Absences

Introduction​

The absence settings allow you to configure various aspects of absence management. Here you can specify which information is displayed, whether and how absences are shared with legal guardians and pupils, and how notifications are sent.

Note on Visibility

This settings page is only visible when the Absences module is enabled for your school.

Overview​

The absence settings are divided into three sections:

  • General: Basic display settings
  • Absence Sharing: Settings for sharing absences with legal guardians and pupils
  • Absence Notifications: Settings for automatic notifications about absences

Edit Settings​

To edit the absence settings, proceed as follows:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Absences.
  2. Click the Edit button in the top right corner.
  3. Make the desired changes.
  4. Click Save when finished.

General​

This section contains basic display settings for absence management.

SettingDescription
Show pupil transport info?When enabled, transport information for pupils is displayed in the absence overview. This can be helpful to check accessibility in case of absences.

Absence Sharing​

In this section, you configure whether and how absences are visible to legal guardians and pupils.

SettingDescription
Show absences to legal guardians and pupils?When enabled, legal guardians and pupils can view recorded absences.
Delay when showing absences (in days)Specifies how many days delayed absences become visible to legal guardians and pupils. A value of 0 means immediate visibility.
Note

The delay can be useful to give the school time to review and possibly correct absences before they become visible to legal guardians and pupils.

Absence Notifications​

In this section, you configure how and when notifications about absences are sent.

SettingDescription
Send notifications to legal guardians?When enabled, legal guardians are automatically notified about their children's absences.
Send notifications to pupils?When enabled, pupils are automatically notified about their recorded absences.
Send notifications to training company?When enabled, training companies are automatically notified about their trainees' absences. This setting is particularly relevant for vocational schools.
Send notifications even when an excuse exists?When enabled, notifications are also sent when an excuse already exists for the absence.
Send delay in minutesSpecifies how many minutes after recording an absence the notification is sent. The default value is 15 minutes.
Note

The send delay gives teachers time to correct accidentally recorded absences before a notification is sent.
